Smooth Moves: Tips For A Great Shave
Author: Jason Flintstone

You think that since it's something we ladies have been doing since about the age of 12 or 13 we would have mastered it by now. No, I'm not referring to putting on makeup, but rather shaving our legs.

While itís all part of our beauty routine, unlike "adorning" ourselves with shades of color, shaving our legs in a necessary "obligation" that's more of a nuisance than a pleasure. Yet, great gams are every woman's objective and experts offer the flowing advice to make sure it all goes smoothly.

Shaving Basics:

Experts advise shaving your legs when they are wet and lathered. They suggest wetting legs for at least two to three minutes before applying cream, gel, cleanser or scrub. According to experts, this is the best way to ensure hair is soft and pliable and easier to eliminate. And they caution against using soap since it tends to dry out legs and makes for a poor shave.

Experts also assert that investing in the proper tools is necessary. They note that there are a variety of shaver styles, but not all legs or legs are the same. And they add, that no matter what type of blade you use, you should change it frequently, exercising caution with a sharp new blade, which may tend to irritate the skin.

Select a shaving cream or get containing emollients that offer a hydrating effect as well as one that is sans fragrance that may (also) irritate the skin. They also suggest avoiding products containing alcohol, menthol and peppermint (they are known irritants). And, if you are all out of shaving product, you can temporarily use hair conditioner or body cleanser in its place.

Apply pressure evenly when shaving and always follow up with a moisturizer to keep skim nourished. But, experts suggest steering clear of creams that contain AHAs because glycolic acid has a tendency to irritate freshly shaved skin.
