Ignatius Piazza Stands Up For American Values
Author:
Studio98
Ignatius Piazza is the founder and director of Front Sight Firearms Training Institute, the nation's largest gun training academy. Every year, Front Sight delivers firearms training to more students than all other major shooting schools in America combined. It stands to reason, then, that Ignatius Piazza is a firm advocate not only of gun rights but also of gun training. Front Sight and Ignatius Piazza are of the opinion that firearms training equals responsibility. America's ideal scene for Ignatius Piazza and Front Sight would be to have every citizen owning a gun and receiving regular firearms training - not even necessarily from Front Sight - just as long as they're getting gun training.
But why do Ignatius Piazza and Front Sight feel so strongly about firearms training that they would support Americans getting gun training even if it meant getting it from somewhere other than Front Sight? Ignatius Piazza and Front Sight feel so strongly because they realize that without firearms, an independent militia and firearms training, America is doomed. Understanding the original intention of the Founding Fathers is not difficult. Scared of the tyranny they had just undergone from the British, the Founding Fathers created the Constitution to make it impossible for any branch of the government to have absolute power.
The Bill of Rights, with ten amendments to the Constitution, included as the Second Amendment the right for all citizens to bear arms. Front Sight and Ignatius Piazza point to this regularly and constantly. Wanting to keep citizens aware of the fact that coming to Front Sight to get gun training is not reserved entirely for hicks and gun-toting rednecks, Front Sight and Ignatius Piazza demand that people understand the importance of the Second Amendment.
The Second Amendment reads, "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." Unfortunately, the commas are part of the original. Today, we wouldn't consider most of those commas necessary, and trying to interpret the Second Amendment with those commas leads many anti-gun pundits to say that the Founders intended only state-sponsored militiamen to be armed.
Ignatius Piazza and Front Sight have one thing to say to that: "Ha." It is absolutely certain that the Founders had nothing in mind short of absolute freedom of arms when they wrote the Second Amendment. What kind of America were the Founders imagining if what they intended was for none but the government-sponsored militia to be armed? Certainly not the America that the rest of the Bill of Rights calls for.
The First Amendment allows for freedom of speech, press, and religion. The Fourth Amendment allows for freedom from unwarranted searches and seizures. The Fifth Amendment allows for all citizens to be tried before a Grand Jury on major cases, and allows for no citizen to be witness against himself. The Second Amendment is for the same people that the First, Fourth, Fifth (and all the Amendments, for that matter) are for. Ignatius Piazza and Front Sight understand this. They also understand the dangerous nature of the government. Front Sight and Ignatius Piazza demand that people understand the need for gun training and firearms training, along with the U.S. Supreme Court.
