Ignatius Piazza No Longer Lone Opposition to District of Columbia's Handgun Ban
Author: Studio98

Ignatius Piazza is the founder and director of the nation's largest, most successful gun training school: Front Sight Firearms Training Institute. Gun training is a way of life for Ignatius Piazza, and he thinks that's how it should be for all Americans. So the 1976 District of Columbia handgun ban is a matter that has always been a barb for Ignatius Piazza and Front Sight. Front Sight is obviously a place for all of America. The firearms training available at Front Sight is unlike anything anywhere else, and it's probably for that reason that Front Sight delivers gun training to more students than all other major shooting schools in the nation combined. This pedigree shows just how much weight Ignatius Piazza has when he speaks up in opposition to a district's handgun ban which is in direct violation of the Second Amendment. Due in large part to the voices of men like Ignatius Piazza and institutions like Front Sight, the U.S. Supreme Court accepted the case of District of Columbia v. Heller, a case which claims that the District of Columbia's handgun ban is illegal according to the Second Amendment.

Specifically, the District of Columbia's handgun ban, which is under scrutiny not only by the U.S. Supreme Court, but also now the entire media, Front Sight and Ignatius Piazza, says that no citizens may bear a handgun anywhere in the district, even in their own private residences, and any rifles or shotguns in private residences must be kept in an inoperable state. Some say, "Wait, inoperable? As in, if someone breaks in to my home, I have to take at least two or three minutes assembling my shotgun so that I can scare them off?" The District of Columbia answers those people, "Yes."

Ignatius Piazza and Front Sight claim that this handgun ban is in direct violation of the Second Amendment, which clearly states that the right for citizens to bear arms shall not be infringed, and yet somehow, the District of Columbia thinks that it can infringe the rights of citizens to bear arms! Thank God, say Ignatius Piazza and Front Sight, that the U.S. Supreme Court has heard the cries of hundreds, thousands, and hundreds of thousands of citizens who have been appalled at the idea that they cannot have a handgun in the sector of America which has the highest murder rate.

Ignatius Piazza and Front Sight point to the fact that the District of Columbia suffers from the highest murder rate, despite the fact that they have the single most restrictive gun laws in the nation. The District of Columbia, for some reason, thinks that its 1976 ban on handguns will somehow convince criminals not to use firearms when they're committing murder - as if the fear of being caught with a firearm will be greater than the fear of being caught committing murder.

Ignatius Piazza and Front Sight, and now probably the U.S. Supreme Court, know that no one can stop a murderer except his or her victim. A private citizen who has received extensive firearms training can keep himself or herself safe. Gun training is what keeps people safe, and if the U.S. Supreme Court would understand this, then at least part of America can re-embrace the aspect of American life which keeps them safe: firearms and firearms training.
